| The Karelian Youth League |

The Karelian Youth League is a national youth organisation promoting and maintaining Karelian culture in Finland.
The main fields of activity within the Karelian Youth League are folk dance, folk music and theatre. The League arranges high quality instructor training, courses and events focusing on various activities, as well as celebrations and trips. In addition, the League provides instructor assistance, and produces material for its member societies.
The member societies are involved in folk dance, music, theatrical expression, crafts, sports, camps and heritage activities, as well as other club activities.
The League organises several annual nationwide events. April is the month of the Spring Break, which includes a folk dance grading event and a cultural gathering. The programme includes a lot of activities between the performances as well. The Karelian Summer Festival is organised together with the Finnish Karelian League. The highlights of the festival include a dancing and singing parade and a joint folk dance show at the main celebration. A wide variety of activities are arranged for young people at the Summer Festival, including social evenings, workshops and concerts. The Autumn Break constitutes the "Crazy Days" of the Youth League. There, the main point is that everyone should have fun.
The League includes 70 member societies with approximately 3,500 individual members in total. Most of the members are children and young people from 4 to 16 years old. You can get involved in the activities of the Karelian Youth League by joining one of its member societies. Contact the League office for details on the Karelian society nearest to you. Membership in the Karelian Youth League is open to regional Karelian associations and their youth sections, registered Karelian societies that engage in activities for the young, as well as other registered youth associations. Individuals can join as contributing members. Please contact the League office for a membership application form.
The League office is located in the Karelia House in Helsinki.
